Special EducationChapter 13 [pdf] of the ELA Program Court Order lists Considerations to Special Education for English Language Learners. This chapter indicates that district procedures related to the education of children with disabilities are modified to ensure that they are appropriate for English language learners.
The ELA Department and the Division of Student Services collaborate to assure high academic achievement for all students. Special education students may receive special education services as well as ELA Program services.
Support for English Language Learners is provided by the Multilingual Assessment Services Team (MAST) . This team is a collaborative multidisciplinary/tran disciplinary team within the Division of Student Services who offer support to English Language Learners. This includes:
The ELA Department is contacted if an English language learner is receiving special education services at a non ELA program school, and the Student Services staff believes the student could benefit from ELA services.
